It's Chili Time
The delicious smell of chili filled the air at Snowshoe Mountain Resort this weekend during the Fire on the Mountain Chili Cook Off. We had a great turn out and despite the bleak weather on Friday; Saturday’s weather was phenomenal just in time for the big event. The master chili cooks made their best pot, the Great Games of Chili spiced up the weekend, and above the feast and fun we had music that could be heard everywhere on the mountain. Roy Riley led the games so everyone had a blast and some other were just daring enough to try the hottest chili on the mountain at the First Tract tent where the import a special chili from India. Some regretted the decision to eat this hot concoction from the first spoonful. Later this week or next we will have an update to this post with a video from the event and the event winners so be looking out!

Such a Great 4th Weekend!
What a great weekend! Fourth of July is special anyways because it is the birth date of our country and Snowshoe gave it a proper celebration. The music was great and you could hear it echoing off the distant mountains all weekend, especially Del McCoury who was great and a big hit with the fans! All the vendors were great and excited to be at this event. Not to mention how many families spent their 4th with us and we are so thankful for that and many of them brought their dogs! It all had such a community feel. Not to mention the fireworks! And they were spectacular! One of the best fireworks displays I have ever seen. I am looking forward to next July 4th and hopefully being able to spend it at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.

Trail Maintenance at Silver Creek
These trails are now completely clear and flowing nicely thanks to Snowshoe biking maven Mikey Valach with assistance from rental guru Lou Rovegno. Two camp saws and some PB&J was all we needed to clear the dozens of fallen trees and grown in brush. But – like all trails – they could use some good “burning in.” So help us out and go ride ‘em!
Fun, Food, and Fireworks!
This year not only do we have a full weekend of Independence Day celebrations but we also have the first series of Powerade downhill mountain bike races.
Great bands, fun, food, fireworks, and mountain biking! What more could you ask for? So bring your sparklers and grab your friends and family and join our family, to celebrate Fourth of July!

Green Zebra Tours
Do YOU know what Snowshoe offers ALL the time and not just during times of events? I didn’t think so! The next few posts are going to be about the extreme activities Snowshoe has to offer great to you and your family. Lets take a look into our Green Zebra tours.
Get ready and tighten your racing harness for a wild 14-mile ride. YES this ride is 14 miles long and you will be going across creek beds, going through mud pits and rock gardens, all while enjoying the beautiful, scenic, 11,000 acres Snowshoe has to offer. I just recently was lucky enough to go on this tour and it was SO MUCH FUN! I most definitely went through mud pits and creek beds. For some reason they were all on my side of the Green Zebra so I got a little dirty. Also with me in the Zebra were two boys around 6 and 8. They LOVED it and had a great time. This is a great family activity I would recommend to anyone!
One of the spectacular views you will see while on the tour!
