Trail Maintenance at Silver Creek

Want to ride an awesome set of cross country trails without getting off your bike? Head to Silver Creek and make a quick warm-up lap around Thread the Needle, which makes a short and sweet loop on the far side of the Silver Creek parking lot. Then ride Black Run Road as it cuts across the slopes and out to Enchanted Forest. Link it to Point of No Return and finish it off with Headset Adjustment, a challenging and classic descent. Hang a couple of lefts and follow the road back up to Silver Creek.

These trails are now completely clear and flowing nicely thanks to Snowshoe biking maven Mikey Valach with assistance from rental guru Lou Rovegno. Two camp saws and some PB&J was all we needed to clear the dozens of fallen trees and grown in brush. But – like all trails – they could use some good “burning in.” So help us out and go ride ‘em!

Fun, Food, and Fireworks!

Oohh say can you seeee! That’s right it’s time for Fourth of July celebrations! Snowshoe Mountain is no exception to that and this year has an extra spark. On top of the mountain you can expect to see Friday filled with fun, activities and music from Wild Rumpus. Saturday is when the real fun begins featuring music, starting at 12 p.m., from The Black Mountain Bluegrass Band, The Half Time String Band and the big show, and our headliner, The Del McCoury Band! Del McCoury starts at 6:00 p.m. and the only event with paid entry at only $25 per person! Following the show we have mountaintop fireworks starting at 9:30 p.m. Vendors will be on the mountain all weekend and a fourth favorite, cookouts!

This year not only do we have a full weekend of Independence Day celebrations but we also have the first series of Powerade downhill mountain bike races.

Great bands, fun, food, fireworks, and mountain biking! What more could you ask for? So bring your sparklers and grab your friends and family and join our family, to celebrate Fourth of July!

Green Zebra Tours

Do YOU know what Snowshoe offers ALL the time and not just during times of events? I didn’t think so! The next few posts are going to be about the extreme activities Snowshoe has to offer great to you and your family. Lets take a look into our Green Zebra tours.

Get ready and tighten your racing harness for a wild 14-mile ride. YES this ride is 14 miles long and you will be going across creek beds, going through mud pits and rock gardens, all while enjoying the beautiful, scenic, 11,000 acres Snowshoe has to offer. I just recently was lucky enough to go on this tour and it was SO MUCH FUN! I most definitely went through mud pits and creek beds. For some reason they were all on my side of the Green Zebra so I got a little dirty. Also with me in the Zebra were two boys around 6 and 8. They LOVED it and had a great time. This is a great family activity I would recommend to anyone!

One of the spectacular views you will see while on the tour!
