Hurry Up and WAIT

Well, here I sit listening to the compressors hum at about 3:45am Friday morning. The wet bulb is at around 25 degrees at the top and 28 at the bottom. Not ideal snowmaking weather but better than last night by 2 or 3 degrees, and it is amazing what a difference a couple of degrees can make. Looks like we may get another shot at it tomorrow night, but still marginal temps and the snowmakers are chomping at the bit. With the vast amount of snowmaking experience we have here at Snowshoe, along with a supercharged system, all it takes is some good cold weather and we can start popping open trails like it nobodies business (except ours). Shawn, Ronnie, Steve, Roger, Mike and myself are looking forward to Thanksgiving as our next big chance to pull the trigger. Now there's something to be thankful for!
Tim, Lynn, Roger and the guys in the shops, are putting the final touches on our grooming fleet and snowmobiles, so that when we get enough coverage out there on the slopes, we can bring the machinery to life and start buffing the trails into corduroy bliss. These mechanics are the surgeons that keep fuel pumping to the hearts of our fleet. Anyone who has watched Swamp Loggers knows the value of properly working equipment.

Nick and Seth have been steady at the welder, building sick new rails and boxes, which I personally cannot wait to "test". The new dance floor they premiered this past weekend at the Snowshoe Open is guaranteed to be a huge hit. With expanded Terrain Park offerings this season I am confident that all the park shredders out there are going to be stoked on Snowshoe more than ever!

So lets all put our energies together and send out a prayer for snow or at least some cold temperatures, so we can work our magic and build some piles of smiles. In the words of Steve Bennett (ace snowmaker) "We make it sweet and deep on the steeps while you sleep".

Peace, Gaitor (Ken Gaitor, Snowmaking and Grooming Manager)
